The Importance of Social Activities for Adults with Disabilities

Community is key to happiness, yet for many adults with intellectual or developmental differences, true community is hard to come by, especially outside of immediate family. L’Arche St. Louis believes everyone deserves to feel a sense of belonging and togetherness, but unfortunately, we can only accommodate a small fraction of what is a robust and growing population in our group homes. (Learn how we are expanding our services on our campaign page: Everyone Belongs.) Nonetheless, we are committed to creating more safe spaces and offering accessible social activities for adults with disabilities to develop relationships, experience joy and acceptance, and ultimately feel welcome for who they really are.
