Dr. Bryan Sokol is a fellow at the Herrmann Center for Innovative Catholic Education and holds joint appointments in Saint Louis University’s School of Education and Department of Psychology. Since joining SLU in 2007, he has served in multiple leadership roles, including Director of the Center for Social Action and Assistant Vice President in the Division of Diversity and Innovative Community Engagement. His research focuses on psychological and social factors that foster positive youth development, especially ways to bolster young persons’ sense of agency, empathy, purpose, and spirituality.

Bryan earned his B.A. in Philosophy from SLU (1992) and his Ph.D. in Developmental Psychology from the University of British Columbia (2004). His work appears in leading scholarly journals, and he has edited several books and presented widely at academic conferences. He is currently authoring Mind at the Museum, exploring the intersection of art, psychology, mindfulness, and social justice.

Bryan joined the L’Arche St. Louis Board of Directors in 2025.
