Erik: Previous House Leader, Sunrise House
Erik moved into Sunrise House in the Fall of 2017 where he quickly became house leader and stayed as a live in until 2019. Through L’Arche, Erik met his now wife, who was another assistant, and even have Jim be a groomsman at the wedding! Erik has since finished WashU with a Masters in Social Work and is working within the field. Here is how L’Arche has helped him with his career goals:
“As a social worker, my job is to listen keenly, observe with compassion, and do my best to promote the inherent dignity of every person. I found that in community, I was invited to practice living that out daily. It molded me into being a more aware professional and an experience that is brought to the fore every time I welcome, invite, and build relationships.”
