Edward in the Office with… Julia!
At L’Arche St. Louis, our office team is made up of folks focused on programs, operations, finances, development, HR, outreach, and everything in between. This year, Edward’s been sitting down with each team member to find out how they all work to support our mission of inclusion and belonging as well as learning some fun facts!
Today, the spotlight is on our Quality Coordinator, Julia. Here’s what Edward found out!
Edward: What do you do at L’Arche?
Julia: I do a lot of random stuff; my tasks ebb and flow depending on what is going on around L’Arche. I often assist Maria with her various projects. I also work with the L’Arche House Leaders to check on everyone and make sure everything is running smoothly. Sometimes, I get called in to help when a house is in need of unexpected support.
Edward: What is your favorite part about L’Arche?
Julia: My favorite thing about being here is simply being a part of such a friendly, loving community. I think some of most people’s lifelong friends are the ones they make working at L’Arche. Some of my favorite memories from working here are going on house vacations; I’ve been on four house vacations in the last five years, and they are always an adventure.
Edward: What do you like to do in your free time?
Julia: I like to spend time with my cats, watching soccer, and lately I’ve been playing tennis. I also enjoy going camping on occasion. I’m in grad school right now, which limits my ability to have fun, but hopefully, as school wraps up for me, I’ll be able to get into some more hobbies!
Edward: If you could visit anywhere in the world, where would it be and why?
Julia: There’s so much I want to see! Some of the places that are on my list to visit are Thailand, Chile, Australia, and New Zealand. I would also love to see the glaciers in Patagonia, Argentina. Hopefully, my next trip will be to Thailand so I can try all the incredible food.
