Meet Our Board: Don Schreiber

Don Schreiber has been a member of the L’Arche St. Louis Board of Directors since February 2025. Don has both owned and operated independent pharmacies in the Midwest for the last 25 years, and was involved in the pharmacy company industry for 40 years prior. Don is now semi-retired. He still stays active in managing partner relationships; however, most of the heavy lifting has now been passed down to his sons.

Don was first introduced to L’Arche St. Louis by a friend who was involved in the early organization of the community. Don’s friend invited him to attend a meeting at L’Arche’s Brentwood Activities Center, where they got to chatting about the mission of L’Arche and the possibility of Don’s involvement. The two of them proceeded to organize a pickleball event with some Core Members and assistants. Don appreciated the kindness, support, and goals of the community, so when Paula proposed adding more members to the Board, Don took up the offer.

Don appreciates how L’Arche’s mission is not just about housing for adults with intellectual and developmental disabilities; it goes beyond the physical homes to focus on inclusion. L’Arche St. Louis has created a model that values giving Core Members both a place to live and a place where they can have a life.
