Edward in the Office… with Sam!

At L’Arche St. Louis, our office team is made up of folks focused on programs, operations, finances, development, HR, outreach, and everything in between. This summer, Edward’s been sitting down with each team member to find out how they all work to support our mission of inclusion and belonging as well as learning some fun facts!
Today, the spotlight is on our HR Manager and current Acting Director, Sam. Here’s what Edward found out!
Edward: What do you do at L’Arche?
Sam: I would say my role revolves around contributing to, caring for, and supporting L’Arche’s mission, and how it gets developed and strengthened within our homes, by working closely with house leaders and assistants.
Sam and Edward often present about L’Arche St. Louis to high school and college students.
Edward: What is one of your favorite memories from working at L’Arche?
Sam: A favorite memory from L’Arche would have to be spending Christmas morning at St. James House in 2019. I would highlight that memory because it was really special to share such an important day with so many people I care about, while also helping create a day the Core Members will remember. I also really love doing the more ordinary daily things with Core Members, like cooking, puzzles, and playing video games.
Edward: What do you like to do in your free time?
Sam: I like to go on walks with my dog, hike, and just explore the outdoors. I also enjoy reading, watching soccer, and drinking coffee.
Edward: If you could travel anywhere in the world, where would it be and why?
Sam: I've always wanted to go to Brazil because I’ve never been to South America, and I want to visit the beaches in Rio. I’d also love to catch some soccer games there :)
